A note from our Director Of Public Relations:

Not long ago, the Barefoot Sisterhood was just a glimmer of hope, a fleeting thought in the mind of a loving and caring young woman. Founder, Elle Febbo, a mother, and a skin cancer survivor herself, was devastated to learn of the staggering number of moms who did not have medical insurance nor the funds available to be tested or screened for potentially cancerous skin blemishes.
Diagnosed with and treated for skin cancer, Elle was fortunate enough to have medical insurance to allow early detection and make her procedures financially possible. She was able to overcome this battle, due to early detection, and qualified medical care, a necessity many women are unable to afford.
Something many of us take for granted is simply not an option for others.
After months of planning, determination and commitment to this cause, the Barefoot Sisterhood was born and has become a reality for Elle. She always reminds others that “thoughts become things”, and “with love and working together we can accomplish anything”. Along with the Board of Directors, her enthusiasm and perseverance for this charitable organization is now allowing opportunities for women who previously had no other options.
With all the love, dedication and loyalty from everyone involved, the Barefoot Sisterhood is becoming a dream come true and is sure to accomplish great things!
Elle’s dream is now giving hope to others.
Your support is greatly appreciated in whatever way possible. And, to get your children involved, we have Andrew's Awareness Arcade, where your child can earn a Sun Safety Diploma, play a learning game, or find out about upcoming ways to participate in thier own community! Healthy habits start early.
If you’re asking, “How can I help?”, here are the answers:
1. With tax-deductible financial contributions, which can be made securely online at the website via PayPal, or by mailing a check, Payable to The Barefoot Sister Foundation.
2. By donating hand-crafted items to be sold in the Sister Store, where 100% of the proceeds go to benefit women in need of screening, education, referrals, etc.
3. By shopping at the Sister Store, which is easy to do!
4. By donating bottles of sunscreen. (Free sunscreen is provided to women who cannot afford it).
5. By spreading the word – you tell two people and each of them will tell two people and each of them will tell two people, etc… – you get the idea.
6. By volunteering your services or just a little time to help
7. By becoming educated in prevention and early detection of skin cancer.
8. By watching out for those you love; keep an eye out (especially area's on a persons body that you know they cannot easily see, such as the back, behind ears, and on the backs of shoulders).
9. By emailing us with any suggestions or ideas you have for helping to promote this cause and for helping women in need.
Please check the link “Sisters” on the website, where you will find some interesting and surprising photos. Yours can be added, too, for a minimum donation of only $1, or your Child/Grandchilds feet for just $3. You'll recieve a special gift for your contribution.
PLEASE contact us with any questions or suggestions, and help us save a Mom today.
